GEO & AI-SEO
GEO (generative engine optimisation) and AI-SEO make your business visible in both classic search results and the answers given by AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI features. AllMeans combines technical SEO, structured content and consistent business information so these systems can find, trust and cite you.
Search has split in two
Customers still type queries into Google, but more of them now ask an AI assistant for a recommendation and act on the answer. Those assistants build their answers from pages they can crawl, understand and trust. A business that is invisible or ambiguous to them simply does not appear in the shortlist.
What we do
- Technical foundations. Fast, crawlable pages, clean site structure, correct structured data (schema.org) and language versions that search engines can tell apart.
- Answer-first content. Service, location and FAQ pages that state plainly what you do, for whom, where and at what terms, in the form AI systems quote.
- Entity consistency. The same company name, contact details, services and areas across your website, Google Business Profile, directories and social profiles.
- Classic SEO. Keyword research, on-page optimisation, internal linking and earning links from relevant, reputable sites.
- Search ads where they help. Paid search for the queries where speed matters while organic visibility builds.
Grounded in work we have done
Our archived 2021 account describes work for a Singapore signage and large-format printing company. The documented scope included rebuilding its website, researching customer searches, preparing search-focused content, link building, search advertising and social-channel work. This is a historical scope example; we do not publish client results or present it as evidence of visibility in AI answers. The same distinction matters when commissioning new work: agree the pages and channels, identify who approves content, and decide which records will show that the agreed work was delivered.
How we measure progress
We track rankings and organic traffic, and we also run a fixed set of prompts through the main AI assistants each month to see whether you are mentioned and how you are described. No one can promise a specific position in Google or in an AI answer, and we will not claim otherwise.
Documented scope
Use these proposed scope items to prepare a brief. The written quote confirms inclusions, responsibilities and acceptance.
What you receive
A search scope can include a page inventory, customer-question map, technical issue list, source-led page drafts and a baseline report. Agree which items are recommendations and which include implementation. For AI-answer work, define a fixed observation set with the provider, question, language and date recorded. The handover should link each changed page to its intended question and the facts used. Ask for an explicit priority order so that a business can act on the findings. A long list of keywords or machine-generated suggestions is not a substitute for deciding which useful page should change next.
What your team provides
Provide current service information, existing pages, the enquiries customers ask before buying and any search or analytics access your business can authorise. Identify verified business details and the person responsible for correcting them. If older case studies are available, bring the underlying evidence and publication permission rather than just a headline result. State which markets and language audiences matter. Share known platform constraints and previous migrations so that a technical recommendation can be assessed realistically. Search work depends on reliable facts and implementable changes; missing access or missing evidence should remain visible in the project plan.
Approvals and human control
Your business approves service claims, customer examples and the final wording before publication. Technical changes should have an identified implementer and a recovery plan where relevant. Agree whether we can correct an obvious broken link or must wait for an internal release window. Structured data should describe visible, supported content rather than introduce claims that are absent from the page. Keep language versions aligned when a fact changes, with the reviewer confirming the meaning in each audience’s wording. External platforms decide what to index, show or cite; an approval process does not control those decisions.
What needs a separate scope
A search engagement does not include a promise of a ranking, a rich result, an AI recommendation or a fixed amount of traffic. Paid advertising, major website redevelopment, digital PR and third-party subscription costs need separate agreement when required. Publishing llms.txt or adding schema markup is not a purchasable entitlement to inclusion in an assistant’s answer. Avoid unsupported keyword-volume claims and manufactured reviews. If a suggested topic duplicates an existing page without adding a distinct buying question, consolidate the material instead of expanding the site merely to increase its URL count.
How to assess the work
Separate search impressions, visits and enquiries from sampled AI mentions. Retain the observation method, reporting period and any missing access. A fixed AI question set can reveal changes in how the business is described, but it is a sample rather than a census of what every customer sees. Review cited sources and factual errors as well as whether the name appears. Connect the findings to the next useful correction or page improvement. For business outcomes, agree what counts as a qualified enquiry and how duplicate or irrelevant messages are handled before comparing periods.

Frequently asked questions
What is GEO?
Generative engine optimisation is the practice of making your business easy for AI assistants to find, understand and cite when they answer questions. It builds on SEO, with extra focus on clear, factual, well-structured content and consistent business information.
Does traditional SEO still matter?
Yes. AI assistants draw heavily on pages that already rank and that search engines can crawl. Good SEO is the foundation that GEO builds on.
Can you promise first-page rankings or mentions in ChatGPT?
No, and you should be wary of anyone who does. Search engines and AI systems decide their own results. We commit to the work, the measurement and a clear monthly report.
How do you measure visibility in AI answers?
Each month we run an agreed set of prompts through the main AI assistants and record whether you appear, how you are described and which sources are cited. Alongside that we track rankings, organic traffic and enquiries.
How soon will we see results?
Technical fixes can take effect within weeks; content and authority usually take several months to show up in traffic. We set expectations for your market at the start and report progress monthly.
